Does anyone have any information regarding what Naval Vessels would have been escorting Army Quartermaster Supply transports on the White River during the 1863-1864 time period. I have seen References to a ship called the "DOVE". Does anyone know if she was Navy, or like the "Mill Boy" a civilian vessel impressed into military service, or was she chartered quartermaster boat?
