Re: Keeping a ships' powder dry:

Dave- I am interested in obtaining an image of the C.S.S. Shenandoah as her remains are today. She piled up on a reef in the Maldive Islands, a chain of several hundred islands in the Indian Ocean. Her iron frame still exists in some part, a warning to vessels regarding water depth. A chance meeting with some folks with the nerve to get to her in a small boat gave me the information that they had discovered the rusted frame of a Smith and Wesson .32 with the letters G. Canning still legible on the backstrap. The Maldives are an Islamic political entity and travel there is no doubt a danger to the infidel. Thor Heyerdahl's last book, The Mystery of the Maldives, is as concise a recent tome on the subject as one can find.
