Re: Ironclads on the Alabama River?

Gen. Frederick Steele's late April 1865 expedition up the Alabama River to Selma and Montgomery consisted of, if memory serves, 15 vessels, one of which was the twin turrent Union river monitor Winnebago. The Winnebago had been brought around from New Orleans by Farragut for the Mobile Bay fight and as I recall was posted at the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers at Montgomery for some days. Sorry but time will not allow digging up the documentation but this shouldn't be hard to confirm.
