Now that you've mentioned army service, I note, from the Civil War rosters, that there was a Hugh Treanor who served in company D, 22nd Michigan Infantry, and one who served in company E, 26th Illinois Infantry. Also, one of these entries also gives the alternate spelling of the surname as
