Thanks for all the info on Abraham Bessent! It was a thrill for me to find a ancestor who served as a Confederate Marine on the CSS Virginia. I wonder if he served any other Confederate ships?

I have not seen Abraham's pension records but I do plan to order them through the site this week. Should be neat to see whats in them. I'll keep you posted.

For your files, my Gr-Gr-Grandmother was Margaret Bessent(Rowland), sister of Abraham Bessent. She was married to a Methodist Minister named Albert W. Rowland. Albert Rowland married Abraham Bessent and Lucinda Wright in 1866 in Greene County, Ga.
