Re: Blockade runner capture, Mobile, 1863

Ron, Stephen R. Wise's volume, LIFELINE OF THE CONFEDERACY: BLOCKADE RUNNING DURING THE CIVIL WAR includes, in appendix 20, a list of "Steam Blockade Runners Unable to Reach Gulf Ports, January 1862 - June 1865" (in other words, all those captured during that period). The only one listed as being captured on May 6, 1863 was the EUGENIE. The next closest date was May 19, 1863, when two blockade runners, the UNION and the CUBA were captured, near Mobile. I think it would have to be the EUGENIE that Helm was captured on. The only way to confirm this is to check the deck logs of the USS R.R. CUYLER, which would almost certainly show the names of those captured on the EUGENIE.
