From Paul Silverstone's WARSHIPS OF THE CIVIL WAR NAVIES, re the USS MUSCOOTA: "Later history: Merchant TENNESSEE, 1869. Caught fire and beached near Little River, North Carolina, 29 June 1870."
Strangely enough, my copy of volume IV of the DICTIONARY OF AMERICAN NAVAL FIGHTING SHIPS shows no entry, whatsoever for the USS MUSCOOTA. I will check to see if she is listed under some other alternate spelling of the name.
