Mike, I just realised that additional information may be obtained from the end of the year reports of the various government departments (including the Navy Department), and since I have a copy of the reports for 1864, I had a quick look and noted that there was actually one more Navy Yard than what I mentioned, namely that at Sacketts Harbor, and there were about three or more Naval Stations than what I had mentioned. Mound City is mentioned a couple of times in passing. As yet I haven't come across anything on Mound City in the newspaper copies that I have, and I have already gone through a couple of hundred xerox pages.
