Peter, I have some newspaper listings which may or may not be of interest to you. Over the years I have xeroxed hundreds of pages from various Civil War newspapers, most of them relating to either the Union or Confederate Navies. Checking through a few of these pages I have come across several references to the USS SUSQUEHANNA and her personnel, such as the following:

"Capt. James L. Lardner of the SUSQUEHANNAH has been ordered to the SAN JACINTO, and to proceed to the Gulf to relieve flag officer McKean of the eastern squadron" - from the New York Daily Tribune of Wednesday, May 21, 1862.

"Commander R.B. Hitchcock has been ordered to report to Flag Officer Goldsborough for the command of the SUSQUEHANNAH" - from the New York Daily Tribune of Wednesday, May 21, 1862.

Under the heading of NAVAL ORDERS: The following are among the orders issued by the Navy Department during the past week, in the Washington Daily Morning Chronicle of Thursday, April 6, 1865, the following two detachments are noted:

"Assistant Surgeon Charles H. Perry, detached from the SUSQUEHANNA and waiting orders."

"Assistant Surgeon William J. Lemon, detached from the SANGAMON and ordered to the SUWQUEHANNA."

Also from the Washington Daily Morning Chronicle, but dated Friday, April 21, 1865 is the following order issued by the Navy Department for that week:

"Boatswain Charles Miller, ordered to the SUSQUEHANNA."

I also have an article titled "An Account By An Officer of the Susquehanna" from the New York Daily Tribune, Friday, October 11, 1861, which describes the assistance rendered by that vessel, as well as the USS MONTICELLO, to some Indiana troops ashore at Pamlico Sound.
