When I say, "If the author implied this without some way of backing it up then I believe that it is academically irresponsible," I am referring to the author of the magazine article.
The letter with General W.H.T. Walker's letter was suppressed at President Davis's desk and went no further. Everyone that signed the "memorial" (Cleburne, his staff, and his commanders) were sworn to secrecy and there is where it stayed.
