Hello Steve, From looking at their Union Compiled Military Service Records the majority appeared to be Union deserters however some also probably were bounty jumpers. The following is the list of where they were taken prisoners.
1) Federal POW records reported him giving up at Martinsburg, Virginia.
2) Gave up at Paw-Paw, Virginia. (Paw-Paw, West Virginia located in Morgan County)
3) Gave up at Paw-Paw, Virginia. (Paw-Paw, West Virginia located in Morgan County)
4) Captured at Sir James Run (located in Morgan Count) May have been Sir John's Run
5) Captured at Martinsburg, Virginia.
6) Federal POW records reported him as giving up at Martinsburg, Virginia
7) Federal POW records reported him taken prisoner at Martinsburg, Virginia

9) Captured at Martinsburg, Virginia
10) Giving up at Martinsburg, Virginia
11) Federal POW records reported his capture at Martinsburg, Virginia
12) Giving up at Martinsburg, Virginia

In addition two other Union deserters were listed as captured near the Potomac River. All of the above listings were arrested in 1864. Although I do not know about their specific arrests I would imagine they were probably hiding in the outskirts of Martinsburg.
