Jenny, thanks for the reply. According to the WI Historical Society's roster at http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/roster/results.asp?image_id=2030 Samuel C. Dean enlisted in the "new" Company H on Dec. 31, 1863. He died Aug 9, 1864 at Chicago of disease. I would really appreciate copies of any letters you have of the 16th Regiment.
