Concerning the photo of the "Company B" 16th PA Infantry Volunteers is NOT of the civil war, but the Spanish-American War of 1898. The volunteers were recruited out of New Castle, Lawrence County, PA. The photo was taken by M. W. Tennant,
of Newport News, VA.

The history of the Sixteenth PA Infantry, states that the soldiers arrived in Newport News, VA at 4:00 A.M. on July 27, 1898
and stayed in Newport News until the detachment received orders to move to Camp Meade, PA on August, 18th. I'm
interested in who M. W. Tennant was and how the family came to have in its possession this beautiful photo? Any help
would be appreciated. Thanks
