The Vicksburg Daily Herald for Oct. 27, 1864 has a short history of the 58th Ohio Infantry. The article does not mention any flags captured at Ft. Donelson, but it does say that the unit captured the flag of the 31st Louisiana Infantry on August 18, 1862, during a skirmish. I hope this helps,
