Re: 4th Ohio Cavalry, Charles Lester ?

Kent,

Thanks for the clarification. As to where my g.g. grandfather died, according to the death certificate, he was born Oct 23, 1845 in Kentucky and died Jan 28, 1919 in Cabell Co., WV.

Summary of census records indicate the following: None found for Ohio. In 1870 and 1880, Charles Lester is in Wood Co., WV. We cannot locate him on any 1890 census. In 1900, and 1910, he is in Cabell Co., WV. So he likely did die in Cabell County, WV.

It appears that Charles Lester likely lived in either Wood Co., WV or Cabell Co., WV in 1890. As such the thought occurred to us that we could check for him on the Special Veterans Census of 1890. However, according to Ancestry.com, he appears on neither this Spec. Vet. Census of 1890, nor the regular Census of 1890.

... Do you happen to know if indexes are available for the Special Veterans Census of 1890, and if so where they may be found? If so, I could check the Spec. Vet. Census of 1890 Indexes for both Wood Co. and Cabell Co., WV, and see if his name shows up on one of them.

Many thanks for your continued assistance. You've been most helpful, and we do apprecaiate it!

Mike
