I have copies of 16 letters from William H. White (an ancestor of my aunt) who served in Company G, 10th Michigan Cavalry. He writes about getting new rifles in one of his letters. I am a U.S. History teacher and plan on using his letters for a class project about the MI 10th Cavalry and Mr. White. If anyone has information or photos about this unit, I would be greatly appreciative of any information that will help us understand the war through the eyes of a soldier. I can also share the letters with you - they are VERY interesting to read - he mentions some names of fellow soldiers, a time when they captured and killed some rebel "spies", his wife's concerns that he may be assigned to a "colored" regiment (he uses a different term for colored), his impressions about the election of 1864 (he's a Lincoln man), etc.
Thank you!
