Thanks for the information! I forgot to mention he is buried @ Lapeer County just outside Lapeer City Michigan. He has a nice CW U.S.N. headstone and metal G.A.R. marker. He is a few plots away from his father Calvin Perkins, 1st Mich Engineer's and Mechanic's who lied about his age in reverse to join in 1862 he was 62 and said he was only 44 the maiximum age. He was in for 18 months and promoted once before being discovered and sent home. His war service got him a $4.00 a month pension. He had a brother and three nephews that also served various Mich units.
