Hello. I was at the Stanwood Cemetery in Stanwood,Michigan yesterday and came across the tombstone of Henry Houston of the 55th U.S.Colored Infantry, Co.C. (1832-1910). A check of the CWSS showed him as Captain, Co.C. The 55th was organized from the 1st Alabama (African Desent). Does anyone out there have any information on this man and how he found his way from the deep south to Michigan. Thanks, Gene.
