The Maryland in the Civil War Message Board

Re: It was Lt-Col Thomas Boyd Edelen in 16th N.C.

Hello David,

I'm not sure is this Maryland message board is still active, if it is, I have additional information about Lt Col Thomas Boyd Edelen.

Colonel Edelen was married to Indiana Belle Whiting, daughter of my great, great grandfather, Colonel Daniel Powers Whiting. If you go to findagrave.com, find the Memorial ID and put in Edelen's ID # - 144984327. This will take you to his memorial at Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC. My wife and I visited the cemetery 12-15 years ago and found neither Thomas or his wife had a headstone. I contacted the VA, he was in the system, they produced a headstone with the appropriate info for him, I purchased one myself for Indiana. Also, there are two pictures I found of the Colonel. One an early military drawing, the other in his US Army jacket and hat.

If you have any other family information on Thomas, his wife, his siblings, parents, children and etc, let me know, I'd love to add it to their memorials.

Thanks,

Roger
