David.... I do have Co. I's rosters, so will look at them. The Sixth Kansas Cavalry originated from Home Guard companies raised for home defense at Fort Scott, Kansas as an adjunct to Lane's Kansas Brigade. Some of the early literature on Fort Scott details some of this information clearly, especially the efforts of Colonel Judson. These companies were finally designated the Sixth Kansas Cavalry when other companies were assigned from the Third and Fourth Kansas. I do have some information on this.

It appears you may live near Independence, Missouri? I live near Kansas City. Possibly we could speak in person. The genealogy library at Independence is excellent.
