I am an archivist with the National Archives, but on my own have researched the Civil War in Indian Terriory (especially relating to the Cherokee Nation). There is a lengthy file in the Adjutant General's Office (Record Group94) that was instigated by Blunt on behalf of Indian & black veterans in Indian Territory who were victims of an elaborate scam by a man named John W Wright who took 15% of each veteran's benefit payment. There is also alot about this case in the records of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (RG 75).

There is also a very skimpy file for Blunt concerning his time in the St. Elizabeth's Mental Hospital (RG 418) in Washington, D.C. If you are interested in these records, I can provide further details.

I also have a lot of information about the officers and men of the First, Second, and Third Indian Home Guard Regiments (the last two were mainly Cherokee and composed largely of deserters from Col. John Drew's Second Cherokee Mounted Rife Regt of the Confederate Army).
