Mr. Gates when it comes to the accuracy of confederate records involving the period of the Price Raid of October 21st through the 28th there is much in the way of confusion as to what happened to whom. I have seen the same situation you are talking about in the CSR's when transcribing the Missouri Cavalry regiments. Most of these men were actually captured on the 25th. Still straggling was a problem. Men were captured near Trading Post and on the Mounds. There were in fact many men captured along the retreat route from Kansas City. The period papers and research from various people such as Bryce Suderow show those numbers not to be significant but still numerous.
