I have noticed that many of Price's men from various regiments participating in his 1864 expedition were captured in Mound City, KS on October 24th 1864 according to CSRs and prison records. This date seems to be in between major engagments and I can't find record of any action on the 24th that would lead to such a large number of men being captured in Mound City on that date. Does anyone know the circumstances behind this significant Confederate loss?
