I did go out to the cemetery this morning and had no trouble finding his grave. He has a family stone that makes no mention of his military service. The stone gives 2 October 1917 as his date of death, but that doesn't agree with either what you say or the cemetery records.

Also listed on the stone is his wife, Adaline. Behind the stone is one for a Bertha Farnsworth, who I assume is a daughter.
