All good points Alan. We're trying to be concise on a topic that could fill a book. You probably know much better than I about the "ideas" in Kansas regarding the Indian Territory after the war. I believe credit is due the Southern Cherokee delegates for their negotiations in 1866 which allowed them to hold out for another 40 years before the Dawes allotment process.
