Re: Experts on Battle of Little Blue, Mo

Just saw your site and have been compiling research on our unit's involvement. Col. James Ford of our unit was in command of forces holding the rear guard at Little Blue and commanded the division which included the 1st Colorado Vol Battery (McLain's Independent Battery), Jennison's regiment and the 9th Missouri State Militia. They were heavily involved at the Big Blue, Westport, La Cygne, Mine Creek, Newtonia, and Fayetteville. There was an article written in 1931 which is posted on teh Colorado State Archives website which gives a good detailed history of teh unit in these battles and I have also found Col. Ford's reports on line describing those events. Details are on our unit's website 2ndcoloradocavalry.com. Capt. Ken Draper, 2nd Regt, Colorado Volunteer Cavalry/McLain's Independent Battery.
