June (not sure month is correct) 12, 1890 his widow Aseneth applied for a pension while living in Indiana (application #478684/certificate #338962)
Sept. 20, 1890 John died and buried in Brick Church Cemetery in Wayne County, Ind.
1897 Aseneth remarried--last name now Belcher
Sept. 12, 1898 John's minor child/children applied for a pension while living in Indiana (application #682545/certificate #480570) with Aseneth listed as guardian
Sources: Indiana Adjutant General Report; Pension Index

NOTES: Assuming John's death date correct then month that Aseneth applied for pension is wrong. It is difficult to read. The year is correct.
There is no specific reference to injury or wound in the brief entry for John in Ind. AG Report.
You would have to order the service record/pension file for details. You can do that through this website. See box at top of this page. The pension application/certificate numbers will make it easy for the researcher to locate his file(s)
