Rod,you can find out a lot about him if you order his combined service record along with his pension file. The 9th was stationed in and around Pulaski, Tn. From the time they arrived at Nashville and until late September, the regiment saw little action. They were involved in action near Linnville, Sulphur Trestle, the battle of Nashville. At Franklin, they were held in reserve. They lost 4 men at Franklin while chasing Hood out of Tennessee. They also were involved in Anthony's hill and Sugar Creek with General Forrest just before Christmas. Anthony's Hill is located just south of Pulaski, Tn and Sugar Creek is near the Tennessee, Alabama border.

Do you have any letters or journals from him? I do have the History of the unit that was published in 1890 but it is only very thin. I am trying to gather information so as to write a better history of the regiment. Anything that you may have would help.

You can order the service record and pension files from this site.
