In Response To: David Albert Goodwin ()

The Indiana Civil War Volunteers Card File at the Indiana State Archives shows a David Goodwin, who enrolled on January 1, 1862 in Porter County, Indiana. He is listed as a private in Company D, 48th Indiana Infantry. His mustering in date was also January 1, 1862 in Goshen, Indiana. The record shows he was 30 years old at the time he joined the army. There is a note on his record that states he was returned to 4th Indiana Battery as a deserter from the same unit May 22, 1862.

This is the information I found on him from his record with the 4th Indiana Light Artillery. He enrolled with this unit on September 15, 1861 in Indianapolis, Indiana. His mustering in date with the unit was September 30, 1861 in Indianapolis, IN. There is a note that he deserted from this unit a second time at Nashville on August 25, 1862.
