Yes, thank you. Family records indicate he had some medical training at Jackson Medical Institute in New Orleans before the war and did some teaching prior to enlisting in the army. He was in the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry, Company B. His name was Robert Edwin Smith aka Rufus. I have his CMSR but sure wasn't much. It only told of when and where he enlisted and some dates of the muster roll. He said he was a wagoner with no horse and the latest dated one said he deserted (date was the same as when he was suppose to have been captured). I will research those two sources, (I've been on one of the websites you listed) but hope you have more info...Sharon
