In Response To: Co.-L , Third Indiana Cavalry ()

Hello Jim,

Thank you so much for responding to my inquiry about my great-grandfather Isom's Unit. I have found that it never hurts to ask.
By running a personal add in the Shelbyville newspaper several years ago, I found an elderly gentleman ( retired history teacher ) who not only knew the Stansifer family in the early 1900s, but had purchased a civil war bayonet in 1941, at the estate sale of a Stansifer widow that belonged to Isom. Mr. Kenneth Seiver ,the history teacher , and his son, decided that they had enjoyed the bayonet for fifty years and it was time to return the bayonet to the " family it belongs to ". This bayonet is mounted in a shadowbox
in my home , here in Tennessee. Old Mr. Seiver is gone now but I will never forget his kind generosity . So you see, you never can tell what the end result will be from asking a question. Thanks again for your information on CO. L .
