I am trying to find out if my David Pease, b. 1842 in DeWitt Co., IL to Nathaniel & Elizabeth Bettis Pease is the same man in this post:

My David was the one in Co. I 49th? & He didn't have a brother Phineas, he had a brother Phillip who died young, from another researcher.

I wonder if this individual knows what they are talking about, or if my David wasn't the one in the 49th.

The record on familysearc.org states David B. Pease, enlisted Monroe Co., IL. My David appears to be the only David in Monroe?

Anybody with access to records from the 49th that can maybe help clarify?
