None of those manuscripts describe the skirmish in detail. Burke, Co K wrote on 7/15/62 that they went to Smithville on way to Batesville; nothing further. Packard, Co C mentioned something about the skirmish on 6/18/62. Not much of anything was recorded by the regiment. The Roe papers are published online and the 7/2/62 letter mentioned the skirmish. None of these soldiers were there, and their information was secondary and rumors. Higgins was the regimental surgeon and the collection does not contain any information.
