My Civil War Ancestors--help

Greetings,
I was wondering if someone could help me with the following information--or where to look--concerning my two great uncles who fought for the Union and both died while serving their country. (I'm blessed with pictures of both men and their Cvil War records from Washington.) But the pictures do not identify who is who.

1. If I scan the pcitures and send--can someone tell by the uniforms who is Elijah James Sherrill and which one is Francis M. Sherrill? The picures are ambrotypes and I've been told an expert can tell the year they went in by the uniforms--that would tell me who is who. I've looked many places but can't find a pciture of the type of hat or uniform one of my uncles is wearing.

2. Can an expert tell what kind of hand gun one of my great uncle is holding? I think maybe it's a Colt

3. Most important to me, I want to pay my respects at their gravesites--even if buried in a mass grave. Does anyone know how to find their gravesites? Or what happened to them after they died? I've exhausted all the resources on line that I have.

Names and info:

Elijah James Sherrill b. March 17, 1840--killed July 12, 1863 in Jackson, Mississippi ---Corporal in Co. G 41 Illinois Infantry (Hornets Nest) Joined for 3 years on July 26, 1861 in Decatur, Illinois--Mustered in August 5, 1861 Decatur, Illinois listed as 20 years of age. He'd survived some tough battles just to be slaughtered needlessly by bad orders.

Francis M. Sherrill b.October 25, 1833--died of typhoid fever in Covington, Kentucky---Wagoner in Co, A 115 Illinois Infantry Joined for 3 years on August 15, 1862 in Taylorville, Illinois--Mustered in September 13, 1862 in Butler, Illinois listed as 28 years of age.

Thanks to anyone who can help me.
Marsha
