Degan's pension card says his and widow's pension requests were transferred to Navy files.
Pension card also lists John Delany as an alias.
Either the charge of desertion was cleared up or he joined Navy under the alias and served honorably to be eligible for a pension.
He died May 17, 1913 according to the pension card
