Sorry to hear of your illness, I would wish no one to that or any other auto-immune type disease. My friend told me the first thing you would want to do is contact the cemetery to make sure it is OK to install a marker. Some have regulations against it, but I'm sure if it is an older rural setting there will be no problem. He also told me to let you know that the Illinois Sons of Union Vets could walk you through the process, no problem. (If you have any problems with this, let me know.) My friend lives in Wisconsin, in fact is a member of the organization so he is sure that's the way to go, but he stressed contacting the cemetery first. Good luck with this.
