I don't know how much this will help you but I did find two soldiers by the name. One in the 37th Illinois Company K and one in the 60th Indiana Company E. There is not much on either one but I only searced in Illinois and Indiana. I am sure with such a common name that must be many more. If I were you I would try looking in the 1860 census, he should be there. Another option is to click on the ad at the top of the page and that will put you in touch with some real good searchers. They can search both Military records as well as pension records. I suggested the Census route first so that you may know that it is your relative that you are looking for. Frank
