Reading, Daniel of Quincy, Ill., May 1838 born at Manchester, Ind., married, farmer; Aug. 15, 1862 enlisted as pvt., Co. D, 118th Ill. Infantry Rgt. Oct. 1, 1865 mustered out at Baton Rouge, La. 1870 farmer at Johnson, Polk County, Mo. 1890 living at Smithfield, Jasper County, Mo. 1900 blacksmith at Dry Fork, Carroll County, Ark. 1910 blacksmith at Omega, Carroll County, Ark. Aug. 26, 1914 died in Carroll County, Ark. and buried in Brushy Cemetery in Carroll County, Ark.
Description at enlistment: 5 feet, 7inches tall, light hair and hazel eyes

First wife: Barbara Reading, c.1833 born in Virginia
Second wife (married in c.1896): Mattie B. Reading, c.1861 (1910 Census) or May 1868 (1900 Census) born in Tennessee

Had a total of nine children and as 1910 four were still living; The last child was born when Danield was about 72.
