Moses Battershall of Chicago, Ill., c.1832 born in Columbia County, N. Y. or Canada, N. Y., son of Emma Battershall, (c.1810 born in New Yokr); single, farmer; May 14, 1864 enlisted as private, Company F, 134th Ill. Infantry Rgt. Oct. 25, 1864 mustered out at Chicago, Ill. 1880 farmer at Douglas, Ill. May 5, 1890 applied for a pension while living in Nebraska; May 8, 1899 his widow Mary E. Battershall (c.1838 born in New York) applied for a pension while living in Nebraska; 1900 Mary, Martha and Guy living at Valley Grange, Neb.
Children: Chester Battershall, c.1875 born in Kansas; Delphine Battershall, c.1877 born in Illinois; Martha Battershall, c.1879 born in Illinois; Guy Battershall, c.1883 born in Illinois

134th Ill. Regiment, a 100-day regiment, served as garrison at Columbus, Ky.

Moses Battershall of Algonquin, Ill., Feb. 22, 1865 enlisted at Chicago as pvt., Co. K, 153rd Ill. Infantry Rgt. Sept. 21, 1865 promoted corporal and mustered out at Memphis, Tenn.

153rd Ill. Regiment, a one-year regiment, guarded a railroad Tennessee.

Muster roll for 134th Ill. describes him as 5 feet, 7 inches tall, brown hair and brown eyes

John W. Buttershall of DuQuoin, Ill., c.1839 born in Columbus County, N. Y., single, jeweler; May 17, 1864 enlisted at DuQuoin as corporal, Co. A, 136th Ill. Infantry Rgt. unknown date promoted sgt. Oct. 22, 1864 mustered out at Springield, Ill. 1880 jeweler at Bon Homme, Dakota Territory; May 17, 1890 applied for a pension while living in Nebraska; June 1890 living at Yankton, S. D. described as 5 feet, 5¾ inches tall, light hair and blue eyes
