According to 1890 U. S. Veterans Census
John W. Battershall served as private in Company A, 136th Ill. Infantry Rgt. from June 17-Oct. 22, 1864; as of June 1890 living at Yankton, S. D.

John is also listed as applying for a pension on May 17, 1890 while living in Nebraska based on service in same company and regiment.

Name spelled Buttershall in 136th Ill. roster

Moses served in both 134th and 153rd Ill. based on his pension application.
He applied for a pension on May 5, 1890 while living in Nebraska. His widow Mary E. applied for a pension on May 8, 1899 while living in Nebraska
