Chappell, Private, Company G, 8th (Wade’s) Confederate Cavalry, enlisted November 14, 1861 at Columbus, Miss. by Captain Yancy for 12 months, advanced to 3rd Corporal, date unknown, captured June 27, 1863 at Shelbyvill, Tennessee, transferred from Franklin, Tenn. to Nashville, Tenn., thence received at Louisville, Ky. July 3, forwarded to Camp Chase, Ohio July 6, 1863, transferred to Fort Delaware, Del. July 14, 1863 arriving July 17, swore to Oath of Allegiance to the United States and released June 14, 1865, resident of Fayette Co., Ala., ruddy complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, 5’ 4”
