Re: George Williamson Finley's prison experience

Additional tid-bits...
According to the rosters of the 14th Virginia, George Finley was from Mecklenburg County Va, and had prior service in the 22nd Virginia Militia in 1860. Enlisted May 12th 1861 at Clarksville/Mecklenburg Co, into what became designated as Company-E of the 14th Va. Age-22, Occupation listed as Farmer. Appointed Regimental Adjutant in Aug 1862, then later resigned in Nov 1862.

Assuming he rejoined or to avoid conscription, volunteered again. Now serving in the 56th Va prior to and including Gettysburg. He would have been at Gettysburg in Garnetts Brigade, rather than Armisteads.
