Thanks, Bruce. What great information! I would definitely like the details for purchasing this book. Can you send me an email to suestewart7 at gmail dot com? Thanks.

It's interesting that he served under Ben Shacklett because Andrew sold part of his land in Scotland County to Ben. Family lore states that Andrew's land was confiscated. Parts were sold but I don't know what happened to about 40 acres of it.

Andrew's home in Scotland County was raided while Andrew was away at war and the horses were stolen. One horse and colt returned while Andrew's wife, Sarah Jane (Greenawalt), was packing up. She was given a very short amount of time to move out. She hitched the horse and the colt to a wagon, packed up the three little children and went to her parents' in Carlinville, Macoupon County, Illinois. When Andrew returned from the war, he went to Illinois and farmed in Pawnee, Sangamon County. He spent several years there and then bought land in Pitman Township, Montgomery County, IL. In the late 1890s, Andrew and Sarah moved to Crescent City, Logan County, Oklahoma where Sarah died in 1897 and Andrew died in 1900.

Again, thank you!
Sue
