CS Chaplain Prisoners

Was there a special exchange policy of the Federal Military for captured CS Chaplains?

I have a particular interest in a GGGF Chaplain that was exchanged at City Point,Va.Jan.29,1864.

John H.Gresham,Chaplain,9th Battalion Tennessee Cavalry was captured at Sugar Creek,Tennessee(SW Pulaski Co.)on Nov.3,1863.

He was then sent to the Provost Marshal at Nashville and forwarded to Louisville,Ky.Nov.16 "for exchange".

Then forwarded from Louisville Military Prison to Camp Morton on Nov.20.

Forwarded to Camp Chase on Nov.21. Then sent to McLean Barracks,Cincinatti,Ohio on Jan.9,1864.

From Cincinatti,Ohio sent to City Point,Va.on Jan.22, "Special Order 22,Paragraph 6 by order Sec.of War".

Next roll dated March 16,1864 Gresham is back with his unit at Dalton,Ga.

Thanks,

Mike
