Members of Company G, 19th Virginia

In the diary of Joseph E. Purvis, Company G, 19th Virginia, he writes that he was slightly wounded and taken prisoner during Pickett's charge at Gettysburg on 3 July 1863. Purvis adds that nine of his company were taken prisoner besides himself, including Captain [Waller M.] Boyd. On the last page of the booklet, under the date of 31 August, Purvis lists himself and 11 other soldiers. It would appear that these men were his fellow prisoners. They are Captain Boyd, J. J. Loving, J. Harvey, C. P. Dillard, L. P. Hughes, J. E. Loving, J. Hamilton, A. Stevens, William N. "Billy" Ponton (Purvis' cousin), K. Whitehead, and Wm. Johnson. In the book, Nothing But Glory, several of these men were indicated as having been captured at Gettysburg. I am particularly interested in the fate of James M. Hamilton.
