I was looking for any William Pate that might have been captured during the Civil War. He lived in East Tennessee, Sevier County. He would have served in a Confederate TN or NC unit. I do not know if he used an additional name. Or if he used initials with the W. He died in 12/24/1865 from sickness he picked up during the Civil War. I think he was born in 1820 0r 1821. He did own a slave in the 1860 census. He was 38 0r 39 years when the Civil War started. He also had a large family. Given his age and family, I think he might have in militia service rather than regular Confederate service. If you have any suggestions where to look. Please pass them on. Thanks Rick
