The Civil War Prisons Message Board

Re: Federal Prison in New Orleans 1864

He is listed as P. J. Conner, Company H, 19th. Texas in a POW ledger. This entry indicates he was captured March 14, 1864 at Fort DeRussy, LA and died July 2, 1864 in New Orleans. The cause of death noted is Typho malarial fever and the burial in Grave #246, Cypress Grove Cemetery.

He has Confederate Service Records as Pleasonton Connor which indicate this is the same man as above. In one of these records he was admitted to the St. Louis U. S. A. General Hospital in New Orleans, a likely site for his death. There is also a Death and Interment Record in his records. These service records can ordered from this site, which helps to support these message boards.
