Re: Camp Morton exchange records

Hugh,
Nice website. Says a lot about the Fort. The only thing I could recommend is to add another page with links to perhaps the Soldiers and Sailors site and as you know there are many state sites where a lot of information can be gleaned about the war and those who served. If you get a chance check out the Illinois Secretary of State site. There is a tab that you can click on and it will take you to the archives site where you can check out the muster rolls of any who served from Illinios in terms of when and where they joined, for how long, etc. Another I use alot is Illinois in the Civil War to read about regimental histories, etc. I am sure that many of the states have something similar and it would be a great help to all of us in our searches. I was asked by a coworker the other day about he Great Great Grandfather. I did not find him but I did find six distant relatives of hers so it was worth the search. We found the Great Great Grandfather of another coworker who was in the Illinois 54th who was home with his regiment on veterans furlough and was called out to the neighboring town to put down a Copperhead riot. Interesting fact he did not know. So in my rambling I would say add that page for all to benefit from.
