One of my ancestors, Isaac S. Evans, is listed as an Acting Third Assistant Engineer on the Mendota. I would appreciate any and all information you have on the Mendota. Thanks.

I found an old letter from one of my Great-Uncles that said Isaac remebered having dinner with President Lincoln on the USS Epsilon. Until today I was unsure of whether he served in the Navy or not. We know that he served a time in the Army, but because of his skill as a railroad fireman/engineer, he served also in the Navy.

Any details or pictures would be greatly appreciated.
