The Civil War Navies Message Board

Re: Army/ Navy Riverine Ops on TN & Cumberland Riv

Gerald, many of these subjects are covered in the Official Records of the Navies, and even the Army Official Records. I am especially interested in the Naval aspect, and all my research work covers the commissioned Navy vessels and personnel. However, please let me repeat what I state often to many persons: I am no expert on this, or any other subject, just an avid researcher and student of the subject. I can always check the reference sources I have in my home library, as well as copies of any documentation that I have purchased over the years (thousands of pages from diaries, journals, deck logs, medical logs, etc., etc.). My area of research does not specifically cover the Army operated vessels, or anything that was run by that service, but, as with the response by Jack, I am sure that there are many who will be able to help in this particular area.
Let us know exactly what you seek, and we will always be glad to help, in any way possible.
I do have some reference works on the Army operated vessels, and many volumes on Army operations, but my particular area of research is the actual Naval aspect of the war. And, once again, I am definitely no expert on the subject, but will be glad to help if I have access to the data requested.
Also, my specific area of research is the cruisers and their activities, as well as the blockade, blockade runners and the naval war on the coast. The reason for this particular interest is because we have found a large number of personnel from these services, who are buried in Australia and New Zealand.
